Morning everyone, happy 2nd day of the new year! Yesterday was perfect! Ate a delicious homemade breakfast, organized a few areas of the house making it look great, went on a photo walk at the American River, ate a delicious ham feast with all the fixin’s, and watched Harry Potter 6 (I’ve been re-watching the saga in my free time lately). It was splendid. I also did a lot of thinking about this year and what I want from it. Last year I tried a “photo a day” thing using Instagram that was influenced by another photographer(basically they told you what to shoot), but by the time April approached I was bored with their ideas and found myself tired of looking at my phone. So this year I’m planning to do my own version of a 365. I don’t necessarily want to shoot everyday, but work on something every day… this includes but not limited to: editing photos left untouched, scanning film, editing film, getting prints, putting together series, organizing my photos, planning shows and installments, and, well, shooting of course too! I blogged a lot last year- had over 100 new posts in fact- and this year I would like to double that! I understand the importance of sharing work, it’s just time I get it out there more and more!
I wish you all prosperity with your goals, achievements, and accomplishments this fine year! It is lucky ’13 after all!
Here’s a photo of a hotel in Columbia, CA, which is part of “Gold Country”. The sun had just gone below the horizon when I shot this, and the building was looking rather mysterious. If you live in Sac or nearby, I highly recommended driving out highway 16, and highway 49. There is a lot of history in that part of the state, plus it’s quaint as ever and perfect for fun, photos, picnics, and adventure!
